Residents of the Volta Region are gearing up for this year’s National Farmers’ Day in Ho, with both material and human resources being mobilized to ensure a successful celebration. The preparations reflect the high levels of patriotism and commitment of the people to the national programme.
The Minister of Food and Agriculture launched the programme of activities in Ho, the regional capital, ahead of the main event scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025. This year’s theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” aligns with the government’s policy of promoting Made-in-Ghana goods and services to enhance food security and self-reliance.
Mr. Horgli, a citizen of the region, has generously donated GH¢50,000 towards organizing the programme, while stakeholders are collaborating with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to ensure a memorable celebration.
The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, briefed journalists in Ho on the regional preparations, noting the enthusiasm of the people and expressing gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for selecting Ho to host the national event. As part of the strategy to encourage greater participation, the Volta Region will celebrate District and Regional Farmers’ Day ahead of the national event.
Mr. Gunu emphasized that the celebration would be historic and economically beneficial for the region. He encouraged residents to position themselves to maximize the opportunities the event presents, particularly in showcasing the Volta Region’s investment potential, local culture, and cuisine to both Ghanaians and international visitors.
Ho, often referred to as the “oxygen city of Ghana” due to its clean and serene environment, will provide an ideal backdrop for the celebration. The Regional Minister also highlighted that organizations and institutions could benefit from Ho’s environment by holding conferences in the city.
Dr. Harrison Kofi Belley, Volta Regional President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), assured that journalists are prepared to deliver accurate and timely information to facilitate growth. He emphasized the importance of continuous engagement with the media to ensure proper coverage of the event and the region’s development initiatives.
