The Provost of the College of Health Sciences at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Christian Agyare, has commended the management of Garden City University (GCU) for its ultramodern laboratories and training facilities. “We commend management for its dedication to delivering quality teaching. Your state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced laboratories, simulation rooms, and digital learning systems, continue to enrich the academic experience,” he stated.
Prof. Agyare delivered the remarks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, at the 17th congregation of GCU. He highlighted that over the past 25 years, GCU has built a distinguished reputation as a forward-looking institution driven by innovation, technology, and community-focused scholarship. “You have demonstrated resilience, purpose, and unwavering pursuit of excellence,” he noted.
On behalf of KNUST, Prof. Agyare applauded the achievement of the graduands and the ongoing success of GCU, emphasizing that the university’s commitment to transforming lives through quality education aligns strongly with KNUST’s vision of shaping leaders who influence national and global development.
A total of 2,494 students graduated during the ceremony, with 2,361 from the School of Allied Sciences and 133 from the School of Business and Applied Sciences. The Acting President of GCU, Nana Kwaku Owusu-Kwarteng, PhD, reported that over the past decade, the university has produced 11,656 skilled professionals contributing to the country’s development, particularly in the health sector, where GCU has carved a niche in training health personnel.
Nana Owusu-Kwarteng called for stronger partnerships between the government and private universities to nurture and mentor these institutions for mutual benefits. He also announced that GCU is finalizing its proposal for accreditation to offer PhD programmes in Midwifery and Nursing. “These programmes will enhance the quality of lecturers with terminal degrees and train midwifery and nursing educators for other schools in Ghana and beyond,” he stated.
Finally, he advised the graduands to serve as ambassadors of GCU by excelling in their respective fields of endeavour, upholding the university’s values and commitment to national development.
