The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has distributed sanitation equipment to all 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region to strengthen local sanitation management.
Deputy sector Minister, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, who commissioned and handed over the items, explained that the intervention is to enhance routine and emergency clean-up operations and improve the effectiveness of National Sanitation Day exercises.
The equipment includes 550 waste bins, 970 rakes, 1,000 shovels, 1,600 hand gloves, 120 Wellington boots, 1,000 long brooms, and 100 wheelbarrows.

She urged MMDCEs to ensure proper oversight, called for strict accountability in asset management, and tasked Environmental Health Officers to deploy the tools effectively.
Rita Naa Odoley Sowah expressed hope that the intervention will catalyze improved sanitation service delivery across the Greater Accra Region.
