Volta Youth in Agriculture has issued a press release commending Dr Andy Osei Okrah and his team, for organising the maiden Ghana Tree Crops Investment Summit and Exhibition held at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The event, which was organised by the Ghana Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), brought together major stakeholders and nation builders both home and abroad, including President John Dramani Mahama, to share expertise and ideas on agricultural development.
In a press release signed by Madam Joy Fiamavle, the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Association and copied to the Ghana News Agency, they praised Dr Andy Osei Okrah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TCDA and his team, for demonstrating the Authority’s mandate to regulate and create a conducive environment for the growth and development of tree and industrial crops, with consequential benefits to the local economy.
“The summit focused on the need for farmers, especially youth, to cultivate oil palm, cashew, rubber, coconut, mango, and shea, promoting agricultural innovation and economic growth which will benefit the general public,” she said.
Madam Fiamavle explained that the Volta Youth in Agriculture viewed the Ghana Tree Crops Authority’s commitment to enhancing tree crops production as a beacon of hope and urged the youth to see agriculture as a first choice for job creation and sustainable development.
She said that the group has encouraged the youth across the country to take a stand, cultivate not just crops but also their dreams, and nurture them with hard work and determination for national transformation.
“Our organisation believed that Ghana could become a powerhouse of agricultural innovation, and we are calling on the young people to believe in themselves and rise up to the task and to become change-makers in their communities,” she said.
She highlighted that the future of agriculture in the country is bright and started that initiatives like the Tree Crops Investment Summit would help to drive sustainable communities and economic contribution.
She gave special recognition and commended Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, to make it possible for the team to attend the summit which showcased governmental support for agricultural development.
Volta Youth in Agriculture also extended their unflinching support for Dr Okrah and his team and pledged collective effort to make a difference in agricultural innovation and youth empowerment.
The organisation further viewed the summit as an opportunity to transform the nation into a hub of agricultural expertise, and the focus on tree crops like oil palms, cashews, and shea for economic benefits.
The initiative aimed to inspire youth involvement in agriculture, shifting perceptions from it being a last resort to a primary choice for sustainable livelihoods and community building.
Madam Fiamavle called the youth to act, and engage in agricultural innovation, to foster a bright future for the country’s agricultural sector through hard work and determination
