The First Lady, Lordina Mahama, would on Saturday, February 28, 2026, hand over a newly built and fully equipped maternity and children’s ward to the Asukawkaw Health Facility
The facility includes a delivery room and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) fitted with incubators and phototherapy machines.
It is also equipped with essential medical devices such as an ultrasound machine, patient monitors, autoclaves, vaccine refrigerators, modern adjustable hospital beds and baby cots, as well as nurses’ offices and examination rooms.

The ceremony is expected to attract notable dignitaries, including Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health; John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister; Nelson Kofi Djabab, Member of Parliament for Krachi East; and Mr Safo Nketia, Municipal Chief Executive of Krachi East, as well as an entourage from the Lordina Foundation.
The new maternity and children’s ward is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery for mothers and children in the municipality, improving access to quality maternal and neonatal services.
Ahead of the commissioning, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the Asukawkaw community, where residents expressed heartfelt gratitude to Lordina Mahama for facilitating the construction of the befitting healthcare infrastructure through the Lordina Foundation.
