The Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church is to upgrade the Kwahu Jamasi clinic into an hospital.
The chief and elders of Kwahu Jamasi have agreed to release more land to the church for the project.
Rt. Rev. Benjamin Francis Quashie, the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, said this at a press soiree organized by the diocese as part of activities marking the silver jubilee of the diocese.
He said since the creation of the diocese in 1981, the church had not only preached the gospel to win souls for Christ but had also participated in a lot of activities that had contributed to the socio-economic development of the Eastern Region.
Rt. Rev. Quashie mentioned some of the projects undertaken by the Church in the region as the construction of a bridge over river Ayersu, near Asesewa in the Fanteakwa District.
The church had also provided the Ayersu community with portable water.
He said the church has a second clinic at Kwahu Appradan, made a lot of donations to hospitals in the region including Tafo Government Hospital and the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
Bishop Quashie said most of the projects of the diocese were done with the support of the external partners of the church but it is the desire of the leadership of the diocese to establish a strong self-reliant church.
