The Minister of State at the Office of the President, Ms. Elizabeth Ohene has stated that a nation requires the dynamism, the awkward questioning, the enthusiasm and even exuberance of it's young people. Ghana would move forward rapidly when it's young people think outside the box.
Ms. Elizabeth Ohene made the speech at the Launch of MyVisionProject Competition; a personal and National Development essay competition at the British Council hall on Tuesday, 24th April 2007.
Other important personalities present at the Launch were Mr. Keli Gadzepkpo, Executive Vice Chairman of Data Bank Financial Services Ltd; Mr. Leslie Boafo, Regional Manager of Debate to Action (DTA) Programme and Mr. Robert Bennin, Executive Director of Achievers Foundation.
The Regional Manager of DTA expressed his pleasure that Achievers foundation, a youth organisation was launching MyVisionProject competition.
Mr. Boafo informed the gathering that Achievers Foundation was one of the 20 youth organisations chosen to participate in DTA's Capacity Building Programme. DTA is an initiative of World Bank Institute and British Council that aims to empower the youth towards National Development.
Mr. Keli Gadzekpo also the Chairman for the occasion pledged the full support of Databank Foundation and that he hoped that success of the project would merit annual corporate support.
Mr. Robert Bennin, the Executive Director of Achievers Foundation outlined the rules for participating in the MyvisionProject Competition. Eligible entrants should be 25 years old or below Participants are to submit personal visions that are in line with the Ghana's development agenda and show a track record of service to their community. Awards at stake are US$1,500, US$1,200, US$1,000 and seven consolation prizes.
The launch brought together members of Achievers Foundation and representatives from some of the tertiary institutions.
