President John Agyekum Kufuor returned home Saturday evening from the United Kingdom where
he was the international guest speaker at the inauguration of the Black and Rhodes Scholars Union of Exeter College.
President Kufuor was also the guest of honour at the formation of the Oxford Union.
Briefing the press on the trip, Mr Andrew Awuni, presidential spokesperson, said President Kufuor encouraged black youth all over the world to make it a point to standout in their various areas
of endeavour.
He said President Kufuor addressed world issues, including problems of the continent such as the Darfur crisis.
Mr Awuni said President Kufuor also held discussions with British government officials on bilateral issues, as well as matters affecting the continent.
President Kufuor, who is also chairman of the African Union, sent a message of commendation to President Muammar Gaddafi of Libya for convening a meeting of the warring factions in Darfur towards finding a solution to the political crisis in that region.
Vice President Aliu Mahama, Ministers of State, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant-General J.B Danquah and the Inspector General of Police, Patrick Acheampong, met President Kufuor on
arrival.
