The Catholic Relief Service and the Community Corroborative Care and Support Project (COMCASUP), an NGO, of the Secondi-Takoradi Diocese of Roman Catholic Church has presented education materials worth GH¢250 to 20 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) in the Wassa West District.
The items included two school uniforms each, a pair of sandals each, exercise books and pens.
Mr Wunime Abugri, project co-ordinator COMCASUP said the items were meant for the upkeep of the children to enable them to have access to quality education.
He said GH¢5000 have been spent on 82 children in the Western region since the project started three years ago and gave a breakdown of the beneficiaries and the communities as five children in the Amenfi West District, 18 in Amenfi East, 28 from Wassa West, two from Jomoro and 28 from Nzema East Districts.
Mr Abugri said the focus of the Catholic Relief Services in collaboration
with COMCASUP is to provide care and support for the people living with HIV/AIDS and OVCs.
He urged the people to attend voluntary counselling and testing so that found to have tested positive would be given the necessary help.
Mr Abugri advised the public against stigmatization and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
Mrs Mary Addison-Fynn, Executive Director, Hope for All Foundation (HOFA), an NGO based at Tarkwa, thanked the donors for the support they offer the people living with HIV/AIDS and OVCs.
