A U.S. diplomat said his country is doing homework to remove the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) from the terrorist list and eliminate Nepal from the negative travel advisory, The Rising Nepal reported Tuesday.
According to the daily, Political and Economic Chief of the U.S. Embassy to Nepal Williams S. Martin informed that U.S. government plans to change the policy towards Nepal at a meeting here Monday with Nepal Chamber of Commerce Chairman Surendra Bir Malakar and Chamber's Honorary Representative for U.S. Pralhad KC.
On the occasion, Martin said the U.S. government was waiting on the issue of the formation of new government.
Martin said Nepal is to decide whether or not to extend the tenure of United Nations Mission in Nepal, adding that the U.S. thinks that there is a need of additional positive role of the mission in Nepal.
