Iran on Monday expressed grief over a major earthquake in China's southwest province of Sichuan which has killed and injured several thousands of people.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini expressed deep sorrow over the disaster to the Chinese people and government as well as sympathy for the families of the victims.
China's national headquarters for disaster relief said on Monday that the earthquake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale and hitting Wenchuan county
in Sichuan Province at 2:28 p.m. (0628 GMT) on Monday, has killed and injured thousands of people.
