George Mensah, a 38-year-old trader, was on Tuesday fined GH¢100, by a Cape Coast magistrate court for inflicting knife wounds on the head of one Mr Kwesi Ibrahim at Kotokuraba in the Central region.
Mensah, who pleaded guilty with explanation, had a plea of not guilty entered for him, but was found guilty after the full trial and convicted.
He would go to prison for six months in default and would also compensate Mr Ibrahim with GH¢150.00.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Francis Ockom told the court presided over by Mr Eugene Obeng-Ntim that, on November 13 2006, there was a misunderstanding between Mensah and Mr Ibrahim's brother, which resulted into a fight.
He said after the fight, Mensah accused Mr Ibrahim of assisting his brother to fight him and that later in the day when Mr Ibrahim was packing his wares into a wooden-box Mensah attacked and stabbed him with a knife on the head,
Ibrahim sustained injuries and was rushed to the regional hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
Chief Inspector Ockom said the matter was later reported to the police and Mensah on hearing that the case was before the police reported himself.
