The 10th Quadrennial Conference of the Maritime and Dockworkers' Union (MDWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has ended with the election of Mr R. R. Amponsah as the National Chairman for a four-year term.
The former Deputy-General Secretary of the union, Mr Eben Mensah was elected as the substantive General Secretary with Mr Robert Mensah as his deputy.
A press release issued by MDWU said Mr S. K. Bonney and Ms Mary Andaara were elected first and second vice chairpersons respectively.
Others are Mr Mark Boafo and Mr Allan Ackah, first and second trustees.
The Theme of the Conference was "Consolidating Trade Union Solidarity in a fast changing global transport industry".
The Union expressed its gratitude for the support given by the TUC, Ministries of Manpower and Employment, Ports, Harbours and Railways, Ghana Shippers' Council, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and Ghana Shippers' Company towards the success of the conference.
