Most Reverend Leone Kelenga Badikebele, Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana has called on African leaders Governments to promote children's education and welfare.
He said the growth and sustenance of any country depended on the efficient and effective upbringing of children the only tool to achieve this was education.
"Governments in Africa need to adopt an effective mechanism that would give priority to children's education, "he added.
Most Reverend Badikebele, a Congolese and the first African Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana and Africa made the call during a courtesy call on Mr Alhassan Samari, Upper East Regional Minister on Thursday in Bolgatanga.
He commended Ghana for her commitment to democracy, peace, stability, good governance and called for equitable and fair distribution of development in all the 10 Regions especially the three Northern Regions which were most deprived.
Mr Samari, said the Region was one of the poorest in the country and commended the Catholic Church for its enormous contributions to develop education, health and human resources in the Region.
He said with the establishment of Saint John Bosco's Training College and Notre Dame Senior High School, they had produced many academicians to augment Ghana's human resource development.
Mr Samari noted that good rapport and mutual understanding between the Catholic Church and Upper East Regional Coordinating Council had enhanced development in the Region.
Accompanied by Most Reverend Lucas Abadamloora, Catholic Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, Most Reverend Badikebele called on Naba Martin Abilba III, Paramount Chief of Bolgatanga Traditional Area.
He commended the chief for maintaining peace, unity and cooperating with the church in its activities.
Naba Abilba commended the Apostolic Nuncio for the visit and said the role played by the church in character formation through evangelization had transformed the lives of people in the Region.
