The Regional Advisory and Network Systems (RAINS), Tamale based NGO dedicated to providing care and support to needy communities and people, has presented a 10-seater bus to the Yumba Special School for the mentally disabled in Tamale.
The RBC Dexia Investor Services, a UK-based NGO bought the bus and RAINS paid for a two-year insurance cover.
Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister who received the vehicle from RAINS and presented it to the authorities of the school, said NGOs in the region were complementing government's efforts to alleviate poverty.
Mr. Alhassan Musah, Programmes Manager of RAINS, said his outfit was committed to ensuring that issues concerning children were addressed and gave the assurance that RAINS would continue to support education in the region.
Mad Georgina Nuaga, Principal of the school, appealed to other NGOs, corporate bodies and the government to assist the school with funds to fence the school to ensure that the inmates were safe.
