Shekeena Needy Trust, a non- governmental organisation in Kumasi, in collaboration with Ghana AIDS Commission under the M-sharp programme (a multi-sector AIDS programme) have donated education materials valued at 1, 500 Ghana cedis to orphaned and needy pupils in some schools in Kumasi.
The items which included school uniforms, stationery, sandals and school bags were presented to 33 needy and orphaned pupils from the Catholic R/C Primary School, Presbyterian Basic School and Methodist Basic School all at Bantama.
The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Shekeena Needy Trust, Madam Sarah Afful, said orphaned and vulnerable children are the responsibility of the society.
She called on the affluent in society as well as other individuals to help support these unfortunate children for them to have a brighter future since most of them are bright students and with a little support they would go places.
Rev. Beatrice Adjanor, Assistant Minister of the Power Memorial Congregation (Presbyterian Church) at Bantama, received the items and said the donation would be of great benefit to the children.
