The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the College of Technology Education Kumasi, of the University of Education Winneba, has funded and inaugurated three projects estimated at 44,711.5 Ghana cedis on the University's campus in Kumasi.
The projects included 300 pieces of combined tables and chairs, 50 ceiling fans and 5-kilometre internet wireless wifi hot spot, to enhance internet connectivity for both staff and students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr John Kwao Dawson, President of the SRC, said students deemed it fit to support infrastructural development of the University.
He said the internet wireless facility would enable students and lecturers have easy access to connect their laptops and personal computers to the internet for research work, and thereby lessen the pressure on the limited computers at the SRC internet café on campus.
Nana Adomako Baafi, Deputy Registrar, who received the items on behalf of the Principal, thanked the students for the initiative.
He said the gesture was ample demonstration that the students had now shifted their focus from unnecessary and sometimes, violent demonstrations to become key stakeholders in the provision of academic facilities on campus and urged them to continue in that direction.
