Two suspected armed robbers have been identified during a parade mounted by the Legon District Police Command.
The names of the armed robbers were given as Johnson Kalejaye, 25, and Adeleke Bufu 21.
Speaking to GNA on Thursday, the District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Richmond Bonsu, said the two armed robbers who were Nigerians, were arrested during an exchange of gunfire on the night of March 20, 2009 at East Legon.
These culprits were identified by their victims among 12 persons arranged for an identification parade.
Meanwhile, the two armed robbers confessed to having been members of gangs stealing within the East Legon residential area.
According to ASP Bonsu, the armed robbers who were wielding guns, escaped during the exchange of gunfire, and their Nigerian accomplices allege they were Ghanaians.
Commander Bonsu added that after full investigations, the two armed robbers would be arraigned before the court of justice.
The Legon District Police Commander appealed to the general public to contact the various police stations to collect mobile phone numbers of the Police cum Military Task Force who patrol within their jurisdiction and report any attempt of armed robbery in their vicinity.
