Mr Joe Osei-Owusu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, has urged people in the area to rekindle their self-help spirit to help quicken the pace of socio-economic progress of the area.
This, they should do through the implementation of more self-help development programmes.
Mr Osei-Owusu was addressing separate Easter fund-raising durbars at Kokofu, Ofoase-Kokoben, Amoaful, Sanfo-Aduam, Abesewa, Dadiase, Esiase, Akyeremade, Mensase and Afransie.
The communities organized the durbars to mobilize funds to support the construction of a number of projects, including street drainage systems, school blocks, a community centre and modern places of convenience.
The people are paying special levies and voluntary contributions to finance them.
The MP announced that the Amoaful-Bonfa feeder road had been awarded on contract and that construction work would commence soon.
He encouraged the assembly and unit committee members to submit priority projects of their communities to the Municipal Assembly on time so that these could be factored into the assembly's budget.
This way, there would be fairness in the distribution of projects in the area.
The MP pledged to work hard to help address the socio-economic imbalances of the Constituency, saying, he was not going to let the people down.
At Kokofu, the MP was honoured by the community for his dedication and tremendous contribution to the development of the area.
