Ms Moky Makura, a Nigerian Author, on Thursday called on Africans to cherish their entrepreneurs and recognized them as role models.
Launching her book "Africa's Greatest Entrepreneurs" in Accra, Ms Makura said Africans should celebrate their businessmen who had gone through various challenges before they became successful in life.
The book features the profiles of 16 African personalities including two Ghanaians who have been successful and dynamic in their businesses.
They are Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng (Rtd), Chief Executive Officer of UT Financial Services and Mr Kwabena Adjei, Chief Executive of Kasapreko Industries.
Ms Makura said Capt. Amoabeng dropped a military career to pursue a profession in finance, evolving from an introductory service, linking friends who had money to invest with those who needed to borrow for their businesses.
"Today Kofi Amoabeng is the Chief Executive of UT Financial Services, a company with a near 30 million dollars turnover and 300 employees, ranked as one of Ghana's most best-performing companies."
She said Mr Adjei began his business by creating a herbal remedy "Alomo Bitters", which was not only claimed to cure malaria, but also to help men's sexual performance.
The Author said Mr Adjei's company made a turnover of 30 million dollars.
Other African personalities in the book were Kagiso Mmusi, Botswana transport millionaire; Richard Maponya, South African retail giant who is behind Soweto's Maponya Mall; Wale Tinubu, Nigerian Head of the Oando oil and Gas Giant; Ndaba Ntsele, South African King of finance and Mo Ibrahim, Sudanese-born telecoms millionaire.
The book is on how they tackled and overcame the obstacles that stood in the way of realizing their dreams and the historical, political and economic context in which they have survived and thrived.
The author was born in Nigeria, educated in England and now lives in Johannesburg, South Africa.
