The leadership of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Men's Fellowship has been challenged not to relent in their efforts to hold aloft the banner of Christian discipline, dedication and fearless and untiring in order to robe in all the men in the congregation into a vibrant Men's Ministry.
Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of PCG who gave the challenge said "As you celebrate this year's Men's Week, you need to be spurred on by the selfless and dedicated services of our pioneers and pathfinders."
He was delivering the sermon at the celebration of Men's Ministry Sunday of the church that coincided with Trinity Sunday and the commissioning of the first batch of 18 Ministerial Probationers from the Trinity Theological Seminary for this year at Emmanuel Congregation, Madina in Accra.
They were 17 men and a woman.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso said many statements in the Scriptures confirmed that men played an important part in God's plan for the Church, where God had been pictured as seeking men to fulfil the roles designed for them.
"It is therefore, not an overstatement to say that the welfare of God's people rises and falls on the men. It is time for all absentee husbands and fathers to return home. Your wives and children need you," he said.
To the Probationers, the Moderator said they were not going to be Ministers of PCG alone but would be recognised and respected as Ministers of the Church of Jesus Christ.
He said in their pastoral ministry, they were not to stay at home waiting for people to come to see them, rather they were to spread the Gospel everywhere, adding "extend your Ministry to the busy businessman and hard-working market women, to our farmers, the civil and public servants and the politicians."
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso said celebration of the Trinity, must give way to universalism, commonality and corporate living to express unity to banish all traces of selfishness and disunity in people's lives and live in the love of God and neighbour.
