Kwabena Nortey, a driver's mate and Lawrence Owusu, a farmer, who appeared before the Asamankese Circuit Court, for allegedly stealing and dishonestly receiving six mobile phones, have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Owusu was granted a GHC 500 bail with one surety, while Nortey was remanded in prison custody to reappear on June 24.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Brew, prosecuting, told the court on May 7, that Nortey broke into a mobile phone shop, at Asuboi near Suhum and stole six mobile phones, which he handed to Owusu.
He said the owner of the shop returned the following day at about 0800 hours to find out that the roof of the shop, had been cut and used as an entry point.
The prosecutor said the complainant, was later informed that Nortey was found with some phones suspected to have been stolen from his shop and subsequently reported the case to the police.
