Nine suspects arrested in a police swoop have been remanded by an Nkwanta Magistrate court for allegedly possessing dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspects, whose plea were not taken and are to re-appear on June 24, are Billy Deri, 52, Tetteh Nyebu, 36, Williams Addo, 19, George Agbeko, 18, Mumuni Fuseini, 20, Francis Kwabena, 42, Eliasu Alidu, 20, Lelewu Fuseini, 26, and Kwame Nkrumah, 26.
Police Inspector Jonathan Kodjoe, prosecuting, told the court that Nkwanta Police Command led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr Douglas Kumah went on an operation code named "Save Life" and arrested 18 suspected criminals out of which nine were found culpable after screening.
Mr Kodjoe said items retrieved in the swoop included large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, four pairs of scissors, cudgel, 36 wrappers of wee and five bicycles.
