The Ejisu Magistrate court has granted bail in the sum of GH¢4,000 each to Nana Obeng Sika, Chief of Sarpe and three others for threatening a developer with death.
The three others are Yaw Nimo, Kwame Nyamesem and Kofi Ofori-Mensah, all elders of the town.
They pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on July 10, 2009.
Police Chief Inspector George Agudah, told the court presided over by Madam Joyce Bamfo that in the early part of this year the accused persons decided to stop one madam Ama Dentah, a trader from developing a piece of land she had legally bought since 1986 at Sarpe in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.
He explained that the accused persons told the police that the complainant had no reason to step on the land because Nana Sika had earlier on warned residents not to develop any land at Sarpe, until the site plan of the town had been completed.
The court heard that the complainant flouted the Chief's directive and that whilst she was working on the land, Nana Sika and the three suspects went to the field, threatened her with a cutlass and seized the equipment that was being using on the field.
Chief Inspector Agudah said the complainant who was also assaulted lodged a complaint with the police who arrested the accused persons.
