Mr Noah Asante Manu, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie East has stated that the progress of the child in building a successful educational carrier depends on how effectively the formative years of the child is handled and managed.
He cautioned that any form of mishandling during this crucial stage of the child's educational development could create very serious psychological as well as adjustment problems for the child in the school system in future.
Mr Manu said this in an address read for him at the 14th graduation ceremony of the 31st December Women's Movement Day Care at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region on Thursday.
The DCE said it was based on the importance of Pre-school that the designers of "our school curricular have put in place the kindergarten (KG) or nursery school, which is considered an essential component of our school system, to provide the building blocks for a firm education foundation.
He said any failure on the part of the educators therefore, would have dire consequence on the child's progress and success in future "since no building could stand on a rotten foundation."
Mr Manu said since the upbringing of children were the collective responsibility of both the school and the home, parents must regard the KG as a preparatory ground for their kids to launch a successful educational carrier, instead of using it as the nursing ground to take their children of their back to engage in their daily chores.
Mrs Mary Juantuah, Regional Day Care Director for the 31st December Women's Movement in her address commended the paramount Chief of Bekwai, Nana Karikari Appau, for donating a large parcel of land to the school for the construction of a new school block.
She urged all old students of the school to make it a point to visit their alma mater to motivate the young ones to enable them to climb higher in their education.
Mrs Juantuah commended the staff of the Ghana Health Service for their regular visit to their schools to see to the health of the children, which she said had helped a lot.
She congratulated the school for placing first in last years inter-KG's games held at Bekwai and urged the teachers to continue training the children to enable them to develop their God given talents.
Madam Elizabeth Sackey, District Coordinator for Early Childhood and Development, urged parents to provide their children with all their basic needs to enable them to grow well.
Nana Karikari Appau, Paramount Chief of Bekwai, in an address read for him pledged his support to the school and said there was the need for all parents to invest in their children's education since that was the best legacy they could bequeath to their children.
The chief called for a closer collaboration between teachers and parents towards the training and development of the children, adding that, any attempt at shirking their responsibilities could lead to improper training of the children.
