Prof Dr Dr Daniel Buor, Provost of the College of Art and Social Sciences of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has said there was the need for collaboration among nations for a holistic education development.
He said collaboration would not only lead to broadening of knowledge of lecturers but would also create the platform for sharing of ideas and knowledge.
Prof. Buor was speaking at the close of the two-week international confab on education organized by the Department of Art Education, KNUST, in collaboration with the African Community of Arts Educators (AfriCOAE) in the US.
The programme was attended by 30 participants from Ghana, China, Australia, Austria, Hungary, Uganda, Nigeria, Canada, USA, Cameroon and the UK.
The Provost commended them for the good work done during the conference and said CASS had declared 2010 as conference year and urged all heads of departments within the college to plan towards such conferences to enhance teaching and learning of art.
Prof. Kojo Fosu, a former head the Department of Art Education at KNUST, called for art education to be made compulsory at the basic education level to enable children to develop interest and enhance their talent in art.
