As part of activities marking this year's Eid-ul-Fitr festival by Muslims, the Birim North District Chief Executive Mr. Napoleon Amoako Asiamah, has presented 30 bags of rice and six cartons of frytol cooking oil to the Muslim community in the Birim North District.
Presenting the items to representatives of the community at Mamanso near New Abirem in the Eastern Region, Mr. Asiamah urged them to use the occasion to pray for peace in all the troubled spots in the country especially Bawku and Yendi.
He said it was not fair to attribute every incidence of violence to the Zongo Communities, and urged the elders to work hard to remove the perception.
Mr. Asiamah also used the occasion to present 50 bags of cement to the Muslims at Mamanso, following an appeal they made to the Assembly to help them to complete a new mosque they are building.
He urged parents in the community to send their children to school, saying that education is key to development.
Receiving the donations on behalf of the people, the Zongo Chief of Mamanso, Alhaji Bala Adamu, expressed appreciation to the DCE and pledged that Muslims throughout the country will continue to pray for peace.
Alhaji Adamu said since God created all human beings, people of all religions should learn to live together in harmony.
