Kofi Gani, a driver from Assin Foso, who pleaded guilty to picking up passengers at an unauthorized place, was on Monday December 14, 2009 convicted and sentenced to a fine of GH¢120.00 on each count to run concurrently by the Assin Foso Magistrate's Court.
In default, he will go to jail for six months.
Prosecuting ASP Kwarteng Addai told the court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay, that the accused, a driver, was charged with picking up passengers at a place designated as "No Parking".
Prosecution said the convict failed to report to court as ordered by the police and on August 23, 2009 the convict insulted a policeman who wanted to arrest him and rather demanded the release of his driving license.
On September 8, 2009, the convict again insulted a Police Inspector but was this time round arrested and charged with the offence.
