A landslide in south-western China early Friday killed at least 18 people and left dozens missing, officials said.
The death toll reached 18 as rescue workers sifted through the debris, the local authorities of Zhenxiong county in Yunnan province said on its website.
Up to 26 people were unaccounted for, a county police officer said by phone.
The landslide destroyed 14 houses and damaged another two in Gaopo village, 550 kilometres north-east of the provincial capital, Kunming, police said.
It occurred at 8:20 am (0200 GMT), the official Xinhua news agency reported.
