Mechanical Lloyd Company Limited, dealers in vehicles has provided boreholes fixed with pumps to the Gomoa Mfantseman and Gomoa Mankessim communities in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region.
Speaking at the inauguration at Gomoa Mfantseman, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, District Chief Executive, expressed his gratitude to the company for helping to solve the acute water problem facing the communities.
He said "water is life, therefore anyone who provides water provides life," and appealed to other corporate bodies to do likewise to the rural communities.
The DCE said the government alone cannot provide this essential commodity to all communities and commended Mechanical Lloyd for the gesture.
Mr Francis Kojo Arthur, Member for Gomoa West, appealed to the people to use water judiciously urging them to prevent children from misusing the borehole, "'do not allow children to go to the stands to waste water," he appealed.
Ms Flora Aggrey-Fynn Amissah, Human Resource Manager of the Company, said the donation of the boreholes were part of their corporate responsibilities to commemorate Ford Motor Company's Global Week of Caring.
She said Mechanical Lloyd, an agent for Ford Motors, yearly marks the Ford Motor Company's Global Week with the provision of projects of choice to communities on request.
She said in their interaction with the DCE they realised that water was a great necessity in those communities hence their decision to provide the the boreholes.
Nana Kofi Kun I, Tufuhen of Mfantseman, thanked the company and also commended the DCE for including their names in the beneficiaries of the projects.
