Vodafone Ghana, the most awarded Telecom Company in 2012 has today reunited several insolvent children in hospitals across the country with their families in this year's Vodafone Valentine Homecoming programme.
Five year old Antoinette Hadjor whose parents are farmers has been in the hospital for over four months. Little Antoinette accidentally got fired in her cheek in an attempt to take a loaded gun from her. She was rushed to the hospital and had to undergo urgent surgery to correct the unfortunate incident. The hospital has since then become the home of the poor girl due to the inability of her parents to settle her medical bills. Today, Antoinette's medical bill has been fully paid by Vodafone Ghana and on this day of love has been reunited with her family and friends. Antoinette and many other children who have been confined to the hospital for lack of funds to pay their medical bills can today go home to their very own environment and loved ones.
Explaining the rationale behind the valentine homecoming, Carmen Bruce- Annan, Head of Corporate communications for Vodafone Ghana noted, "We are very delighted that on this day and in this season of love, we've been able to get these young children to re-unite with their families and friends to spend the day together. We are very passionate about the health sector and will always stay continually committed to empowering all Ghanaians in the area of health" .
In its 3rd year, Vodafone Valentine Homecoming is an annual initiative where Vodafone shows love in the season of love by paying the medical bills of insolvent patients who have been kept in hospitals because they are not able to pay for their medical bills. This year, the program which has had over 300 beneficiaries since its inception focused on children between the ages of 2 and 10 years.
