Basking in on-going development projects across country, a group of Members of Parliament from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have appealed to the electorate to retain the Party in power in the December 7 polls.
The group, called the 2016 NDC MPs Exit Group, commended President John Dramani Mahama, for the hard work done despite numerous challenges during the past four years, and assured Ghanaians that the President would do more when given the mandate for four more years.
“JM Toaso,” (J M Continue), the traditional elders and people of the Assini Amoani community chanted, in appreciation for the assurance, from Mr Alfred Kwame Agebsi, a Member of the Group and Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament.
A section of the group led a procession, with music and dancing through the farming community of Assin Amoani, in the Assin North Constituency, and the people, led by Okyeame Agyei Kissi, the linguist converged at Assin Amoani Community Centre to listen to the group.
Most of the people were in NDC paraphernalia in the colours of red, green, white and black as they re-echoed the party slogan “eye zu, eye za”.Mr Agbesi, who promised to donate a quantity of bags of cement in an answer to a request by Okyeame Kissi to renovate a pavilion for the community likened President Mahama to a father who would need his children to prosecute his agenda.
He therefore urged the electorate not to vote “skirt and blouse”, the phenomenon of voting for a presidential candidate in one party and a parliamentary candidate in another. The outgoing Deputy Majority Leader recalled the inauguration of the improved and new Kwame Nkrumah Circle overhead, and other projects across the country, and said that was just a tip of the iceberg of more things to come.
Mr Agbesi, and his entourage urged the electorate to vote for President Mahama and Mr Samuel Ambre, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Assin North.Other members of the entourage including Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, MP pledged to donate 50 bags of cement; Mr Abudu Nelson Daani, MP for Daboya Makangu paid for the cost of 10 bags of cement towards the pavilion renovation project.
The members of the Group made a stop at Assin Breku and did some house to house campaign. The Group also visited Ekumfi Narkwa, in the Ekumfi Constituency, where they urged the electorate to consider the health, education and other projects brought to the people and the community by the NDC Government under President Mahama and retain him and Mr Abeiku Crentsil, the NDC parliamentary candidate in the polls.
The mission 2016 NDC MPs Exit Group is campaigning vigorously for President Mahama and the umbrella family to ensure that they win one touch in the polls. The 47-member group has vast experience in the campaign process and to them whether in or out of Parliament, the interest of the great NDC party remained supreme. They intend to tour all the constituencies across the country to canvass for votes for the NDC and President Mahama.
They have already been to some constituencies in the Greater Accra, Volta and Central Regions. The group will be split into regional groups to visit their regions and constituencies to campaign for the one touch victory.
