The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Police Commander, Superintendent Nana Jacob Kumi, has called for increased public cooperation to ensure the peaceful and successful conduct of next month’s general election.
He said it was important that the people upheld the law and stepped back from anything that could trigger confusion. He was speaking at a public forum held in Bibiani for candidates contesting the area’s parliamentary seat to share their development vision with voters.
The programme was put together by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the European Union (EU). On hand to participate were Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Moses Kofi Armah, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Benson Boison, National Democratic Party (NDP), and Kwame Asamoah, (Independent).
Supt Kumi gave the assurance that the police and the other security agencies were ready for the election. He said there would be adequate security protection for every voter and that nobody was going to be intimidated or terrorized.
He warned of swift and decisive action to deal with all trouble makers, adding that, such people would never have their way. The candidates promised to focus on education, health, sanitation, and child protection, if given the mandate by the people to represent them in parliament.
