At a rally at Sakai in the Upper West Region, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet accused the President of paying lip service to roads in the area.

“I remember some three or four years ago, when President John Mahama was campaigning to become President, he was in Tumu and told all the people that the next time he comes to Tumu, he would come by road. Is the road tarred?” He asked the excited crowd who responded “nooo ooooh nooo!”

Bad road

Both the Wa-Tumu and Bolgatanga-Tumu roads are in bad shape. They are dusty and bumpy but some construction equipment was on the roads levelling them at the time of filing this report.

Mr Greenstreet also accused the President of  having little respect for the people of the area as well as being out of touch with their needs by travelling with helicopter  to Tumu the last time he was in the area earlier this month to campaign.

He said the performance of the NDC automatically qualified the NDC to be booted out of power.

As has become characteristic of Mr Greenstreet campaign, he did not spare the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying “definitely, once NDC is away, you have to make sure you don’t give your vote to NPP.”

“NPP also came for eight years and they also did not do the roads,” he said of the largest opposition party’s stay in power from 2001 to 2009.

“As of now here in Sakai, you have problems with your educational facilities, water and healthcare facilities.”

He also lamented the poor nature of telephone signals in the area and pledged that the CPP would fix all the challenges confronting their communities.

He said the CPP was a party of peace, progress, justice and development and a party that cared for all Ghanaians irrespective of their location.

Continuing development projects

With successive governments gaining notoriety for abandoning some projects initiated by their predecessors, Mr Greenstreet said the CPP would break away from that convention and “continue with the good works of all previous governments.”

“We will complete the roads and improve the healthcare facilities. We will make sure your educational facilities have massive investment, as well as training for your women and farmers.

Remember when you vote, you vote for your future and your children’s future,” he added.

At Pulima in the Sisala West Constituency, Mr Greenstreet said the CPP had a history of bringing development to three regions of the north and could therefore be trusted.

He said a CPP administration would reduce the price of fertiliser and organise all women into groups and give them training and further empower them with loans without interest for them to use for their business.

He said 24 years was enough for the NDC and the NPP to do what they could do.

Mr Greenstreet maintained that the CPP was in the race to give employment to the country’s youth, improve health and educational infrastructure.
