The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the party supporters to remain calm as the Electoral Commission prepares to declare the winner of the just ended elections.
Addressing party supporters at his residence in Accra yesterday, he said the EC had asked for more time to enable it to receive and collate the election results.
He said the whole world and the international community was looking at Ghana, and urged the supporters to work and support the accolade of democratic maturity the country had attained over the years.
Nana Akufo-Addo, who was flanked by his running mate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, commended Ghanaians for the maturity they exhibited by voting in an orderly manner.
He said Ghanaians participated in a historic election in the annals of the history of the country, and voted for change and a new direction for the country.
Nana Akufo-Addo said when voted into power, his vision was to create jobs and bring prosperity to Ghanaians.
“We have experienced team to work to lift the economy forward and create jobs for the teeming unemployed and bring prosperity to Ghanaians,” he said.
Nana Akufo-Addo commended the other presidential candidates, who had congratulated him on emerging the victor in the just ended elections, and mentioned them as Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party, Dr Edward Mahama of the People’s National Convention, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings of the National Democratic Party and Jacob Osei Yeboah, an independent presidential candidate.
“I knew all of these people are going to be part of government to bring prosperity to Ghanaians,” he said and thanked all those who supported him and the party’s campaign.
Nana Akufo Addo also paid glowing tribute to his running mate, Dr Bawumia for his support, saying there was no decision he takes without consulting him.
