The Right Reverend Sam Kofi Osabutey, Bishop of Accra, has congratulated Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for emerging winner in the December polls.He also congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for also conceding defeat in the election describing it as a sign of maturity.
Rt. Rev. Osabutey said this in his New Year Message at the Madina branch of The Methodist Church, Ghana. He congratulated Ghanaians in general for the peaceful elections and called for co-operation between the two parties to ensure a smooth transition process. The Bishop of Accra took cognisance of the transition currently underway and urged both parties to work together to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
“I look forward to seeing more of the maturity being demonstrated during this transition period to make the victory that Ghana has won complete,” he said. Very Reverend John Hammond, Superintendent Minister of The Methodist Church, called on Ghanaians to bury their differences and rally behind the new government to ensure development.
He urged Ghanaians to help fight corruption which had eaten deep into the fabric of the Ghanaian society over the years.
