The people of Okere have congratulated the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Dan Kwaku Botwe, on his new appointment as the Minister for Regional Re-organisation and Developments. They were optimistic that his human nature and in-depth knowledge of mobilisation of people would in no doubt make him accomplish the task assigned to him with excellence.
In a statement signed by the Okere constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Kenneth, it said ’we know that he is up to the task judging from his expertise and previous position as the General secretary of the NPP and wish him well’.
The Okere NPP also thanked the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, for the confidence reposed in him and assured him that ‘our MP would deliver on his mandate and we are hopeful that he would even exceed your expectation’ According to the statement, the three-time MP for Okere who has earned the nickname ‘Okere Mugabe’ would deliver on the mandate given him and pledged their unflinching support to him, as he carried out such a huge national assignment for the benefit of the people of Ghana.
The statement urged all Ghanaians to throw their weight especially those in the beneficiary regions, behind the Minister as he begins his mandate and be mindful of the words of the Minister at the vetting that ‘the creation of the new regions was to the benefit of the people of Ghana and not the NPP’.
Mr Botwe, is responsible for the creation of four new regions in the Brong-Ahafo, Volta, Northern and Western Regions, in fulfilment of a campaign promise made by the President during the 2016 electioneering campaign.
While the NPP proposed four regions, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the other hand proposed to create five regions if given the nod in the same 2016 elections.
