The Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, has paid a courtesy call on the Sunyani Traditional Council, a move that signals, warming of the relationship between the council and the minister.
He was there to officially introduce himself to the chiefs and to reaffirm his commitment to work with them to bring development to the people. The Minister was accompanied by members of the Regional Security Council and regional officers of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
It may be recalled that the council soon after the nomination for approval by parliament of Mr. Asomah-Cheremeh, publicly declared that it could not work with him. The chiefs were angry that he had disrespected the Omanhene, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II.
The Regional Peace Council, quickly intervened, to repair the strained relationship.
Nana Asor Nkrawiri took advantage of the Minister’s visit to appeal for the completion of the Sunyani Ring Road project - to link the Sunyani-Kumasi highway through New Dormaa-Old Abesim.
He also wants the construction of a standard sports stadium in the municipality to promote sporting activities. The Omanhene applauded the decision by the government to build a regional police hospital in Sunyani and promised to provide land for the project.Mr. Asomah-Cheremeh thanked the Council for its prayers and support, and said together they would work to make things better for the people in the region.
