The Council of State has been asked to focus on helping President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to carry every Ghanaian along with his government in the implementation of his development vision.
Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, Principal of the Jackson College of Education (JEC), affiliated to the University of Education Winneba (UEW), said it should go the extra mile to ensure that no section of the society was made to feel neglected or sidelined.
The Council should be candid - tell it as it is, to keep the nation united.
Making the call through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, she said the expectation was that the members would at all times be guided by the national interest.
Mrs. Jackson said the general good and the welfare of the people should be at the heart of whatever counsel they gave to the President, adding that, “this must override any other consideration”.
She congratulated Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II, Omanhene of Juaben, on his election by the Council as its Chairman, and expressed confidence that the nation would tremendously benefit from the rich experiences and expertise of the Council.
The Principal appealed to the government to give priority to technical and vocational education.
There needed to be substantial budgetary allocation to the sector to help provide the youth with skills that would make them employable.That, she indicated, was the way forward, to hold back the rising joblessness among the youth.
