Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has held consultations with the chairman of the electoral commission, Wafula Chebukati. Mr Chebukati confirmed through a tweet that the meeting took place. He said they discussed electoral matters.
He added that he looks forward to meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
A joint meeting will be held afterwards.
We reported earlier that Mr Kenyatta had turned down Mr Chebukati's request for the political leaders to meet today. The opposition leader withdrew from next week’s presidential election and called for mass protests on the day of the poll.
