Mr Richard Adu, the Wenchi Constituency Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on other political parties in the country to emulate the political maturity and civility demonstrated by supporters of the Party in the just ended constituency primaries.
This, he said, would help to consolidate the gains of Ghana’s fledgling democracy.
He expressed satisfaction with the prevailing unity within the rank and file of the Party, and expressed optimism that such spirit of unity and cohesion would be sustained for the progress of the NPP.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wenchi in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Mr Adu, who declared his intention to contest the Regional Youth Organiser position of the Party, reminded the leadership of the NPP to support the Party’s activities at the constituency level.
He pleaded with delegates to vote for Mr Sammy Awuku, the current National Youth Organizer who is vying for the National Organiser position in the Party at its National Delegate’s congress in the course of the year.
He said Mr Awuku’s victory would subsequently lead the Party to another resounding victory in Election 2020.
Mr Adu, who is an Assemblyman for Ntoase Electoral Area in the Wenchi Municipality, said “the tremendous contributions of Mr Awuku have partly made the NPP what it is today”.
“This is because Mr Awuku was always in touch with those of us at the constituency levels. He personally financed most of our campaign activities in election 2016 and he deserves our nod”, he added.
“I am strongly campaigning for Mr Awuku because I know what is in him and what he can do. If he wins the position, the fortunes of the NPP will shine brightly in election 2020”.
Mr Adu reminded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the NPP on the need to recognise the contributions of some key individuals in the Party to motivate them and others to remain loyal and committed to the cause of the NPP.
“If our contributions go unnoticed it will be a great disappointment and discouragement to many of the youth of our great Party”, he indicated.
Mr Adu said the national youth organiser personally provided enough financial and technical assistance which enabled the youth wings of the Party across country to intensify campaign and reached out to the voting population to canvass for more votes.
