Mr Boye Laryea, a contestant for the Greater Accra New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairmanship has stepped down from the contest slated for April 21, 2018. Mr Boye Laryea (aka Nii Ania) made this known in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday and that he had submitted his formal withdrawal letter to the elections committee.
The statement said: “We contest to serve the interest of the party, if my stepping down from the contest has in any way hurt my supporters; I wish to assure all that I am stepping on my own volition to serve the interest of the party in other capacities that will go a long way to help the party in Greater Accra Region.”
It said: “I shall continue to work with all of you, and be available to support at all times. Please let’s look at the bigger picture and ensure that other competent people are elected peacefully to serve the region.”
The statement wished all contestants and delegates well and to lay a solid foundation for victory in election 2020.
