Newly elected Third Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Omari Wadie has stated that the party literally thanked God when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) did not show up at their national delegates’ conference in Koforidua.
According to him, the NDC could have done anything and their absence was a blessing in disguise.
For this reason, he said the NPP is not perturbed about the boycott.
The NPP at the weekend elected new executives in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, but the NDC did not show up to give their solidarity message as it is the norm among political parties in the country.
Mr Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the NDC had indicated that he informed Vice President Dr Mahammudu Bawumia at the one week thanksgiving service of the late former Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur of the inability of the party to attend the NPP National Delegates’ conference due to the late invite.
But Mr Wadie said the reason for the boycott was flawed.
“We thank God because if they [NDC] had been there, we will not have known what they would have done or said, when they said they will not show up, we said Thank God, I think the excuses they gave about mourning Amissah-Arthur was not good enough,” he noted. –citinewsroom.com
