He conceded that the party was facing challenges in Parliament because of the hung nature of Parliament making it difficult to pass some government policies and programmes.

“The wake of the problems the party is facing in the hung parliament has made it difficult to get the government’s policies and programmes passed,” Mr Ntim said.

Addressing members, supporters and well-wishers of the party in the Greater Accra Region, he observed that the party lost many seats due to its inability to resolve some of the internal grievances after the primaries and appealed to them to put the past behind them and be resolute, focused and firm to regain the party’s lost parliamentary seats.

Mr Ntim, the former first vice chairman of the party, noted that there were constituencies that the NPP should not have lost and would ensure all those seats were regained in 2024 so the breaking-the eight-year political party power jinx would be broken to enable the NPP government to have its policies and programmes passed without difficulty.

“We are going to have an effective, efficient, firm, transparent and fair procedure in place to bring everybody on board after an internal election and we will put in measures that will be difficult for the losing side to say they will not work for the party so that NPP as a party will work again to bring the needed growth and development to the citizenry.

How can we sit here and say we do not have an MP on the ticket of NPP in Okaikwei North, we need that seat back in 2024 and we will do all in our power to win it since we went into 2020 with 167 Members of Parliament but ended the elections with 137 of them while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also secured 137 seats,” Mr Ntimintimated.

However, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, an NPP member, but elected as an independent member of Parliament for Fomena Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has decided to do business with the NPP on the floor of the House giving the party a slim majority.
