Former Deputy Minister and Subin MP, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has issued a rallying call for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging party members to put aside internal disputes and refocus on the larger task of winning back power in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held on Saturday at the University of Ghana Stadium, Boakye Antwi emphasised that the party’s real adversary is not within, but the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“We have one common enemy and it’s not each other,” he stressed. “Victory 2028 begins with a United NPP today.”
The conference, which attracted party bigwigs, delegates, and grassroots organisers from across the country, also approved key constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening internal party structures. In a Facebook post reflecting on the conference, Hon. Boakye Antwi described the amendments as “a bold step in our collective journey to rebuild and strengthen the party.”
While responding to media queries about a possible bid for the General Secretary position, he gave a clear hint of his ambition, saying: “When the time is up, I will surely contest.”
He used the platform to outline a vision rooted in technology, transparency, and organisational efficiency, stressing the importance of modernising party operations and communications to remain relevant in a rapidly changing political landscape.
The former MP said that while discipline, loyalty, and collective responsibility were not new values, they must now form the bedrock of a revitalised NPP. He warned that policy initiatives alone would not be enough to secure a return to power if factionalism and in-fighting persist.
“True strength lies in unity,” he wrote, echoing the sentiment of the day. “Together, we are laying the foundation for lasting impact. Kukrudu — forward ever!”
