According to the Paramount Chief, the use of English was the bane of some Members of Parliament (MPs), making them ineffective and dragging national development. Obrempong Krampah was speaking during the purification of the paramount throne of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, a rite performed to appease the gods and ancestors for forgiveness and bring progress to the people. 

Contrary to the Ghanaian situation, he observed that countries like Japan, China, and India who used their local languages had seen significant advancements in technology, economic development, and industry. 

“In view of this, I call on the Speaker of Parliament to listen to this piece of advice and allow proceedings and other legislative works to be done in our local languages, and I am very optimistic that we will make significant progress in no time,” he said. He further appealed to the Ministry of Education to roll out programmes that would teach students in various fields such as Engineering and Medicine in the various local languages, aside English. 

Obrempong Krampah used the occasion to present computers, printers, air conditioners and other office accessories to the Gomoa Obuasi District and Winneba Divisional Police Commands to enhance their operations. He commended officers of the Ghana Police Service and the Electricity Company of Ghana, as well as traditional authorities and family heads for working to make the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area a better place to live. 

Mr Theophous Adu- Mensah, Central Regional Board Chairman of the Lands Commission, appealed to the Chiefs and heads of family to refrain from the wrongful sale of lands to avert litigations and underdevelopment. 

The Board Chairman, expressed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring the registration of lands within one month to promote investor confidence, reduce litigation and boost the economic development. 

Mrs Margaret Naana Ackom, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Gomoa East, appealed to the Paramount Chief to intervene to halt the destructive sand winning activities in Gomoa Fetteh. Worriedly, she observed that the police had been left helpless as the menace continued to deteriorate and threaten the lives of residents living closer to the sea. 

Mr Hackman Kobena Aidoo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central, commended Obrempong Krampah for his support and pledged to work to improve the livelihood of the people. He said the assembly had started constructing and expanding health centres in the area to improve quality healthcare delivery as promised made by President Mahama.
