President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday appealed to the newly sworn-in ministers to treat people they would be serving with respect and dignity to justify their nomination and approval as Ministers.
"Do not lord it over the people who brought you into party, but serve them by cutting down all the unnecessary bureaucracy within the framework of the law," President Mahama said.
The President made this appeal when he swore-in seven Ministers who were vetted and approved by Parliament.
The Ministers who took the oaths of allegiance, oaths of Ministers of State and oaths of secrecy are Mr Seth Emmanuel Tekper, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Ms Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Foreign Affairs Regional Integration, Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing and Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemana, Minister of Roads and Highways.
The rest are Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, Alhaji A.B. Inusah Fuseini, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Mr Clement Kofi Humado, Minister of Food and Agriculture.
President Mahama said: “Expectations from the people are high, and it cannot be business as usual and you therefore need to change the mantra that' this is how we came to meet it."
He appealed to them to work hard to achieve the reforms that the government had over the years earmarked for the public sector by acting as agents of change and not as Lords.
"Remember that it is a privilege to serve your country and your contribution can only be meaningful if you are modest and civil to the people you serve," he said.
Ms Tetteh on behalf of her colleagues thanked the President for giving them the opportunity to serve Ghanaians and promised to serve with modesty and humility.
"On behalf of my colleagues, I will like to assure you that we will not disappoint you and we will use the President as the vehicle through which aspirations will be achieved," she said.
