Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo has held talks with Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos to boost bilateral friendly ties. During the talks with his Angolan counterpart, president of the National Assembly of Angola Antonio Paulo Kassoma, Wu said that China would work with Angola in stepping up inter-parliamentary cooperation to a higher level.
Wu Bangguo, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee, met Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos on Monday.
During the meeting, Wu highly praised China-Angola relations. He said the two countries have carried out frequent high-level exchanges, boosted economic and trade cooperation and closely coordinated and cooperated on international and regional issues.
Wu also said that China is willing to make joint efforts with Angola to further deepen traditional friendship, improve cooperation mechanism, expand practical cooperation, increase people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and push forward bilateral strategic partnership.
Angolan president Santos said Angola will push forward bilateral cooperative projects. He hopes to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation on a wider range of issues with China and continuously boost bilateral strategic partnership.
During his visit to the African country, Wu pledged to explore ways of further boosting exchange and cooperation between the two parliaments.
On the inter-parliamentary cooperation, Wu proposed to further the parliamentary cooperation by strengthening high-level exchange among parliament leaders, specific committees and friendly groups.
Angolan National Assembly President Kassoma expressed his appreciation to the supports offered by China to help Angola to restore peace and promote reconstruction.
Wu arrived in Angola on Sunday, the second leg of his four-nation trip to Africa and Asia. He has visited Namibia and is scheduled to visit South Africa and Maldives.
