Mr Isaac Osei-Antwi, former Municipal Chief Executive of Techiman, has advised Assembly Members to be abreast with the Assembly Standing Orders to become conversant with the general frame work of the Assembly concept.
He called on Assembly Members to build and maintain cordial relationship with staff of the Assembly and the Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives towards the development of
their communities.
Mr Osei-Antwi was addressing the close of a three-day workshop, to sensitize 120 Assembly Members from Tain and Wenchi Districts in
the Brong Ahafo Region, on good governance and structures of the Assembly.
It was organised by Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) and sponsored by Konrad Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).
Mr Osei-Antwi, who was speaking on the topic “Assembly Member, MCEs and DCEs”, asked the participants to exhibit leadership skills
and be humble and show respect to the people.
Mr. Stephen Agyeman Badu, Techiman Municipal Budget Analyst, who spoke on “Mobilising Community for Development”, asked Assembly Members to mobilise the people for development.
Mr. Jimmy Yeboah Asiamah, the Regional Secretary of GUTA, appealed to the Assemblies to organise more training programmes for their staff and Assembly Members to become abreast with the local government system.
Dr. Isaac Owusu-Mensah, KAS Representative in Ghana, called for the strengthening of the healthy relationship between the Foundation and its partners “to build a strong economy bolstered by political pluralism and stability”.
