The African duo played the first period as their clubs clashed on Saturday at the Stadion Lokomotiv in Moscow
Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong and Nigerian striker Ezekiel Henty started for Arsenal Tula and Lokomotiv Moscow respectively in Saturday’s Russian Premier League game.
However, both were hauled off at half time as Arsenal led the score board by a lone goal.
While Frimpong had a mostly quiet game, it was Henty who could have changed the game’s complexion late in the second half when he found himself free on goal with the goalkeeper.
Making his sixth start of the season, the 23-year-old Nigerian was left to shoulder the attacking responsibilities of Lokomotiv after injury to Igor Portnyagin.
However, Henty missed his big opportunity to put his side ahead in the 42nd minute when he was freed with a delightful pass by Alexander Samedov only for his shot to be stopped goalkeeper Mikhail Levashov.
Two minutes afterwards, Arsenal Tula made their own chance count as they took the lead from a corner kick as Costa Rican Felicio Brown Forbes nodded home from close range to send his team into the lead just before the break.
Both Henty and Frimpong did not make it back into the line for the second half.
Lokomotiv needed a late penalty by Samedov to score the equaliser as the game ended 1-1.
